ACCA Apprenticeships in Wales
Our Level 4 Accounting Apprenticeship programme in Wales has been developed in conjunction with Welsh Government, employers, other professional bodies and training providers to develop a new apprenticeship standard for Wales.
As an apprentice, your training is funded by the government and employers. There's no cost to you.
The ACCA apprenticeship for Wales centres on the Diploma in Accounting and Business. It offers you a route into accountancy that can lead all the way through to chartered certified accountant status - a world-class qualification - and a long-term and highly rewarding career.
You’ll work, study, take exams, and be mentored by an experienced professional.
The syllabus includes the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business, a separate qualification on top of the apprenticeship award itself.
The apprenticeship:
- takes a minimum of 12 months to complete
- dedicates around 20% of your working hours on learning and training, both with your employer and their training provider
- provides online learning support in the form of interactive lessons, access to a tutor and an online community of ACCA fellow students
- enables you to earn while you learn
- involves three exams taken ‘on demand’ during your apprenticeship.
Your learning will cover three main subject areas:
- Business Accounting
- Financial Accounting
- Management Accounting
You'll also take ACCA’s Foundations in Professionalism online module. It will help you understand what it means to act professionally and ethically in your job.
If you want to go on to achieve our ACCA Qualification, the experience that you get under your apprenticeship will count towards meeting the Practical Experience Requirement (PER).
This means from day one of being an ACCA apprentice, you're already on the way to becoming a fully qualified ACCA member.
In addition, you'll get real-life workplace experience, which will put your ahead of your university peers.
ACCA Apprenticeships build a solid foundation for a successful future opening up a whole host of career opportunities.
On completion of your Level 4 apprenticeship there are a number of pathways you could choose:
- the full ACCA Qualification and go on to become an ACCA member
- an undergraduate degree from Oxford Brookes University (closing in May 2026)
- a Master’s degree from the University of London
That means that in just five years, you could become a chartered certified accountant, avoid student debt and earn a salary from day one. You won’t just be level with people who went to university - you’ll be well ahead of them.
