The ACCA apprentice scheme in Scotland.

The professional accountant is evolving. That’s why ACCA apprenticeships develop future-ready accountants with the digital skills, business acumen, ethical integrity, and emotional intelligence that top employers look for and the expertise needed to add value to any organisation in any industry.

Apprenticeships in Scotland

There are three levels of ACCA apprenticeships available in Scotland.

Each programme offers a different level of training and has been developed to support future professionals with skills and knowledge for working in a specific group of roles.

Levels of apprenticeship

Entry requirements

  • Foundation apprenticeship: You need to have a good level of written and spoken English, and good numeracy skills. You also need to have an interest in working in accountancy, a drive to succeed in the sector, and communication and team-working skills. Potential apprentices are selected for the apprenticeship by your school. You will go through a recruitment process arranged by their college or the learning provider.
  • Modern Apprenticeship: You need to be at least 16, and resident and working in Scotland. Employers and Training providers may also have their own entry requirements.
  • Graduate Apprenticeship: You need to be at least 17, and resident and working in Scotland. Your chosen training provider (Robert Gordon University or Glasgow Caledonian University) are also likely to have entry requirements.

The importance of experience

If you want to go on to achieve our ACCA Qualification, experience that you get under your apprenticeship will count towards meeting the Practical Experience Requirement (PER).

From day one of being an ACCA apprentice, you're already on the way to becoming a fully qualified ACCA member.

In addition, you'll get real-life workplace experience, which will put your ahead of your university peers.
