On behalf of ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Hong Kong, I warmly welcome you all to the 2025 ACCA Community Day.

This year’s theme, ‘75 Years in Hong Kong: A relay of love for a better future,’ celebrates the 75th anniversary of ACCA Hong Kong. Throughout these years, we have consistently promoted industry development, nurtured professional talents, and supported various sectors of society, particularly the underprivileged groups.

The ACCA Community Day is one of our flagship events that combines professional expertise with community service. Since its inception in 1997 founded by the ACCA Charitable Foundation Limited, we have raised over HK$24 million in donations to support local community and underprivileged groups, demonstrating the accounting profession's commitment to social responsibility. This year's proceeds will benefit three organisations: (1) Evangelical Free Church of China, (2) Healthy Hong Kong Limited, and (3) Hong Kong New Arrivals Services Foundation Limited, supporting their charitable initiatives.

We are deeply honoured to have Hong Kong SAR Government’s Financial Secretary Mr Paul Chan Mo-po as our officiating guest again this year. Mr Chan, who served as ACCA Hong Kong's Chairman in 1997, founded the ACCA Community Day and initiated the ‘Rickshaw Race’. This unique event encourages accounting professionals to step out of their offices, engage in physical activity, and raise funds while demonstrating our profession's dedication to the community.

As the world's leading accounting professional organisation with over 252,500 members globally, we leverage Hong Kong's position as an international financial centre to provide our members with professional training, global perspectives, and career advancement opportunities. ACCA Hong Kong will continue to explore emerging areas such as sustainability, artificial intelligence (AI) and talent development, supporting our members in adapting and thriving in this rapidly evolving market.

In this 21st century where AI plays a key role, I consulted AI on ‘How to make a rickshaw go faster’. The insights include weight reduction, wheel optimisation, strategic route selection, and aerodynamic improvements. For participants, the advice encompasses physical conditioning, appropriate attire, proper running form, and adequate rest and nutrition. I hope these tips help you to think ahead and achieve good results.

Finally, on behalf of ACCA, I extend our sincere gratitude to all Corporate Sponsors, Advertising Sponsors, Donors and Participating Corporates / Institutes. Your generosity is crucial in making our event possible. I look forward to your support and participation in this year’s Community Day. It promises to be a wonderful occasion filled with joy and purpose.

Together, let’s continue the relay of love and support within our community, promoting the spirit of love and care in Hong Kong, and contributing to the advancement of our profession and our society. Thank you!

Stanley Ho
Chairman of ACCA Hong Kong
