The Cert PFM includes both an online course and an assessment. The online course includes all the study materials you will need.
If you already have a strong grounding in public financial management and want formal recognition of your skills, you can just take the online Cert PFM assessment. Likewise, if you do not need certification, but want extra knowledge in the field, you can choose the course only.
Registration
You can apply for the Cert PFM at any time.
When you complete registration, you’ll get access to the online course and assessment for twelve months. Typically, candidates should take around 40 hours to work through the course.
The certificate is assessed by a one hour exam with multiple-choice questions. There are 25 multiple-choice questions based on the syllabus. The candidate is required to answer 13 questions correctly.
The fee covers three attempts to take the assessment. These must be taken within twelve months of accessing the online course. If candidates don’t pass after three attempts, another registration fee is required to make further attempts.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
As the Certificate in Public Financial Management takes approximately 40 hours to complete, it could count towards almost a whole year’s worth of CPD for our members. For more information on CPD for members please see the CPD for members area of our website.
