The globally-recognised ACCA’ membership gives me the confidence to pursue any employment opportunities to advance my career. The ACCA qualification offers great opportunity for everyone and this includes the ability to further advance my education with it.

Becoming an ACCA member was one of my biggest achievements in life. I have seen people in my life benefiting from ACCA and that inspired me to do the same. I will definitely advocate for the younger generation to consider pursuing this amazing qualification and to have the access to wonderful career options in the future too!

Always been a proud advocate of ACCA and took pride on being a member of ACCA even till now. I remember the days back in 2005 where we study from morning (8am) till night (9pm) with a group of friends for exam, exchanging note and having healthy stressing with each other. Became auditors together and some of them are now already Partners and CFO of companies. Time flies and I’m grateful and proud to be a part of ACCA network.

One of the most memorable moments for me will be to witness the happiness and joy of my parents watching me walk down the stage to receive my ACCA Certificate at Raffles City Convention Centre. For me it was the moment of realization that all of my hard work and perseverance was for this moment which I knew is the beginning of an exciting and rewarding career as a qualified accounting professional.

During my ACCA journey, I have encountered several pivotal moments that have significantly influenced my personal and professional development. One particularly memorable occasion was at the celebration of ACCA's 118th anniversary, where I had the honour of serving as the event's emcee. Another occasion was when I had the privilege of imparting my own perspectives and expertise to Indonesian students at SMU. These experiences have reinforced my unwavering support for ACCA, as it has given me opportunities to grow and discover myself more. ACCA has not only equipped me with  technical skills but also made me a better communicator and confidant person.

ACCA was the obvious choice for me coming out from high school, in fact I chose ACCA without going through the usual university route. ACCA is well-recognised globally, and with the current 250k strong membership, it just means what we say and do actually creates impact wherever we are. This became prevalent in my years serving as a Member Network Panel and being a part of the global ACCA International Assembly, indeed it opens up a whole new world of connections and opportunities!

During my ACCA journey, one moment stands out. Balancing a full-time job, late-night study sessions, and being far from home was overwhelming. One evening, after an exhausting day, I received a video call from my parents. Their words of encouragement and belief in my abilities deeply moved me. They reminded me of my strength and determination, saying they were proud of my progress. That call reignited my motivation and reminded me why I started this journey. With their support, I passed the exam and realized the true power of perseverance and family love.

Kavi Berns

MD, Speaker, ex-banker, joined ACCA in 2005

When I started studying ACCA as an 18-year old in 1997, we could not afford a study desk or chair. My dad brought two used empty A3 printer cartons from his workplace & I sat on the floor. That was my study desk for my ACCA & university exams. But ACCA Singapore gave me the courage to dream big and aim high. I persevered & won a prize for the highest marks in Paper 4. I got my first internships at Citibank & Stanchart through my ACCA teacher. Upon graduation, ACCA Singapore invited me to give my first guest lecture to students. Fast forward 27 years, ACCA Singapore led me to an international investment banking career across Singapore, UK & Europe for Tier 1 banks including Citi, BNP Paribas & Barclays. Today I still get goosebumps & pinch myself when flying around the world speaking & inspiring groups of 100+ industry professionals & students from Analysts to Board level. I give back by training the next generation on Accounting, Corporate Governance & Capital Markets and opening doors for them into banking. Is this really happening or just a dream? Is this the same person who started on the floor? Thank you, ACCA Singapore for inspiring me to dream. Keep inspiring all the dreamers like me out there!
