Overview

City view of London taken from a high vantage point

Prove your expertise in international tax and gain a specialist qualification from the Chartered Institute of Taxation, one of the world's most respected professional bodies. ADIT is particularly relevant to qualified accountants with a tax background who are looking to specialise further in international tax.

Globally recognised – valued by firms and organisations in industries and sectors around the world, ADIT is acknowledged globally as the leading qualification of its type

Challenging and rigorous – ADIT is an indicator of your quality and status, enabling you to differentiate yourself from your peers by demonstrating your commitment, expertise and employability

Enhanced employability – ADIT is a unique differentiator on your CV, demonstrating that you are an international tax expert and enabling you to become an International Tax Affiliate with the CIOT, which will further your career.

  • To complete the qualification, you must study and pass three module exams focused on different aspects of international tax.
  • Designed to give you flexibility in choosing the subjects most suited to you and your career, only the Principles of International Taxation module is mandatory. You can choose any two of the optional modules covering a wide range of jurisdictional and thematic topics, or an extended essay on an international tax subject of your choice.
  • All modules are examined each year, around the world. The most popular modules are available twice a year in June and December. You can take exams one at a time, or sit all three in the same session, whatever suits you best.
  • The approximate study time needed will be 140 hours for the Principles of International Taxation module, and 200 hours each for the optional modules. This does vary and will depend on how familiar you are with the module content.

By achieving ADIT you will demonstrate:

  • knowledge of the key concepts of international tax, achieved by completing the mandatory Principles of International Taxation exam
  • in-depth knowledge of international tax issues for two jurisdictions or areas of international tax, achieved by completing any two from a range of optional module exams.
  • ACCA members should register with CIOT and start preparing for the ADIT exams at least five months in advance of the exam.
  • ADIT exams are held each June and December, with exam centres available in a wide range of locations around the world.
  • You will need to register as an ADIT student before you can register for the exam. Registration deadlines are usually three months before the exam.
  • ACCA has negotiated exclusive discounts for members to purchase the ADIT self-study course materials from Tolley Exam Training – one of the leading providers of study materials for ADIT.
  • ACCA members can claim a 10% discount both from the correspondence course and the complete course package, which includes the correspondence course, classroom and revision courses.
