Q&A
Q: What has your career journey been like so far?
A: I sit at the intersection of accounting and content creation educating the accounting community about accounting apps. Leveraging my ACCA qualification as a global passport, I’ve lived and worked in England, Singapore, and Canada. Now I’m based in Brisbane, Australia. My practice fits in my handbag, and I’ve worked with clients across the world, and when permitted, travelling extensively. I’ve run a virtual micro-management accounting practice since the early 2000s. I’m obsessed with how effective automation and integration can produce timely clean data, enabling informed decision-making for our small business clients. Now, I share my love for accounting apps, and my learnings and observations of the accounting Industry through content creation – innovatively curating bitesize chunks of technical resources to help the accounting community understand and use apps.
Q: What difference do you bring to a business?
A: I’m sparkly, think big picture, and my specialty is simplifying complex subjects in a practical and approachable manner.
Q: How has technology and digitalisation helped you?
Technology and digitalisation enable me to move my practice into the cloud so I can work from anywhere and my clients can be anywhere. Automating repetitive tasks frees up my time to focus on high-value activities, such as big thinking and client-facing advisory. Before Covid-19 I travelled the world running my practice out of my handbag, speaking at seminars from New York to Singapore to help people understand how they can embrace a modern practice lifestyle by educating them about technology.
Q: What does connection mean to you?
A: A connection emerges when there’s an alignment of focus for building a modern practice, alongside a generosity of knowledge sharing. I’m grateful to be connected with progressive, sharp, inclusive, imaginative, thought-provoking, diverse, motivated, modern cloud-based practitioners.
