In January 2019, the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) jointly released the Business and Economic Outlook (BEO) Report 2019 highlighting findings in the following areas:
- Positive and negative factors, both domestic and foreign, that will influence the economy and critically impact the performance of Malaysian businesses
- Key challenges for Malaysian businesses at an organisational level
- Significant developments that will impact businesses over the next 5 years
- Overall business and economic outlook
The report can be accessed here.
MIA and ACCA subsequently organised roundtables with CFOs from public listed companies in a cross-spectrum of industries and practitioners representing small and medium practices (SMPs) and larger firms to weigh in on earlier findings providing richer context.
The result is a collection of calls to action to fellow accountants and the government to strengthen the country’s economy and public practice, which can be found in the download section below.
