Lewis Shand Smith, consumer rights expert

Lewis is a highly experienced dispute resolution expert and qualified mediator. He cares passionately about justice and peace, and especially justice for those who see it as being out of reach. He has been a politician, priest, and most recently spent 10 years as the Chief Ombudsman in Energy, Telecoms and Property.  

In December 2018, he was appointed as the independent Chair of the Dispute Resolution Service Implementation Steering Group. The Steering Group was established to deliver the Dispute Resolution Scheme (DRS) - an industry funded interim voluntary ombudsman scheme which offers support to larger SMEs that are not eligible to complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) or captured under the extended scope of the FOS which came into effect in April 2019.
