This session will look at how Internal Audit needs to determine whether stakeholder reporting about climate change is accurate, and challenge the data presented.

Sonia is a Financial Regulation Assurance Lead with experience in ESG, Climate Change, Governance Frameworks, Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR), Conduct Risk, Operational Resilience, LIBOR, MiFID II, Risk Frameworks and Financial Crime.

She is an ACCA member and assurance and advisory professional with 20 years' experience. She has worked internationally with the C-Suite and Boards across Tier 1 and 2 Financial Services firms, and her global experience includes UK, Africa, Europe, Middle East, North & Central America.

Sylvia Ashley, Grant Thornton UK LLP

Sylvia has over 30 years’ international experience in front line financial instruments, Business Development, HR, People and Culture and change initiatives. She has extensive knowledge of the financial services sector providing a bridge between front line and HR/ IT/Compliance particularly in looking at conduct and behavioural issues.

She specialises in end to end HR transformation and change initiatives, and is highly skilled in employee engagement particularly in managing resistance (both passive and overt), learning and development and stakeholder buy-in.

Before joining Grant Thornton, Sylvia was a Senior Organisational Development Consultant for HSBC, appointed to develop a Global Job and Leadership capability framework across 5 regions, 70 countries and impacting 230,000 employees.  Sylvia is experienced in working with both large complex global matrix organisations and clients across the Financial Services sector. She is certified as a Scrum Master, Agile & MS Project with an MSc in Organisational Change, a Fellow of FINSIA, and has extensive knowledge of applied psychology, human behaviour and leadership coaching.
