Unincorporated businesses, the self-employed and landlords will be phased in from April 2026 to mandatorily submit quarterly returns via digitally compatible software under MTD for ITSA. Those with total qualifying income over £50,000 are mandated from April 2026, and those with total qualifying incomes between £30,000 and £50,000 will be mandated from April 2027.
The launch of the service to register as an ACSP/Companies House authorised agent has now gone live from 18 March 2025 following a previous delay when it was originally due to go live on 25 February 2025. This new service is for third party providers who will be carrying out identity checks on behalf of clients for Companies House, to register their business to become an authorised corporate service provider (ACSP).
Telling HMRC about mistakes voluntarily, without being prompted, is known as making a ‘voluntary disclosure’. This is defined as telling HMRC at a time when the taxpayer has no reason to believe that HMRC has discovered (or is about to discover) non-compliance.
