As we near the end of the transition period, the Government is supporting businesses across the UK to ensure that they are ready for the new arrangements for trade with Europe from 1 January 2021. As members and practitioners of ACCA, I know that you are advising businesses, many of whom will be SMEs, on how best to prepare for the changes that are coming.
I would like to thank you for the incredibly important and highly valued work that you are doing to ensure UK business can grow, thrive and adapt. I urge you to continue to stay in touch with Government announcements and updates on the EU transition pages on GOV.UK, and to continue encouraging your clients to visit these pages to get information on actions they need to take.
The Department for International Trade is committed to supporting you as business advisors, to ensure that your business and your clients’ businesses are fully prepared to succeed and seize the opportunities offered by this new era of international trade.
As you know, there are actions that businesses need to take to prepare for the new trading arrangements, irrespective of whether we secure a free-trade agreement with the EU. Let us continue to work together to ensure that everyone is ready to go on 1 January 2021.
